Day 10 – Tools, Resources, and Tricks of the Trade.

One of the things that differentiates me from other “so-called” home business gurus, is the fact when I started my first home-based business, back in 1991, I had just been newly divorced, had 2 children, and absolutely no money.  Without formal training, I created an income that paid the bills, with even a little left over for entertainment.  At that time of my life, things were moving so fast, I didn’t have time to appreciate the fact I had successfully achieved my goal of starting and operating my own home business; allowing me to circumvent sending my two and three year olds to daycare.  If I can do this, without any clue of what I was doing, I know you can – if you’ve set yourself up , utilizing the information I’ve provided to you in this course.

One of my favorite hobbies today, is finding f*ree and low cost resources I can incorporate into my own enterprises.  You see, it doesn’t matter how much money you have, to me, there is nothing more thrilling than creating income from thin air.  Like my father told me many years ago, “a penny saved is a penny earned.”  The tools and resources you can download in PDF format, at the end of this lesson, will assist you because they will give you insight into the ways technology can assist you in getting your business rolling.  I’ve also included a complimentary copy of Napeolean Hill’s “Think and Grow Rich,” to supply your thoughts with the positive energy necessary to take your business from start-up, to a profit-making money machine.

Since this is the final installment of this course, I want to invite you to become a regular visitor to “The Home-Based Business Connection” blog, where I will continue to provide on-going and updated dialog that affects work from home professionals.  You can register to comment and interact at http://www.wordpress.com.

I want to personally thank you for taking the ”Work from Home Success Course.”  If you know of someone who could benefit from taking these lessons, please don’t hesitate to refer them to the website.

If you would like to incorporate this course into your own website, as a complimentary service to your site visitors, please email me, and I’ll forward the HTML code for you to add a sign up form on your site or newsletter.

Please keep me posted on the status of your home based business.  If you would like to do a reciprocal link exchange with us, please feel free to contact me, via the live support link, located on all pages of our website.

Good luck in your endeavor, and here’s to your Success!

Resources and Tools for your Home-Based Business

Day 9 – Recruiting Your Own Team

There is a negative stigma attached to being involved in multi-level marketing, or MLM.  Many work from home pros, if asked, “What do you think of when I mention Recruiting your own team,”  would undoubtedly respond – MLM!

In your business, you may or may not be working with an MLM; in fact, it’s entirely irrelevant.  What does matter is this:  Regardless of your industry, profession, product or service, it is always necessary to recruit a “success team.”

Let’s give some practical examples of what a success team can be, and its purpose, as it relates to your overall growth.  In this example, you’re a mortgage loan officer who works exclusively from home.  When you find a qualified customer, you will be creating a loan package for them, that will require the additional services from other professionals.  In this case, you handle the loan, but the customer will also need the services of a professional appraiser, a title officer, a real estate agent, a home inspector, and even a moving company.

Let me pose this question to you:  Can this loan officer afford NOT to have a success team in place?  Absolutely not!

While none of the members of the team are employees of the lending offier, none the less, these affiliate relationships offer excellent networking opportunities and increase the prospect of gaining additional revenue because of the reciprocal team concept.

Another example in which the “success team” is integral is with an insurance agent, who chooses to hire agents under him to manage.  The managing agent receives an override on the production of his team, and therefore, invests his own time and energy providing on-going training and support to his team.  In this example, the managing insurance agent’s success team can drastically improve his bottom line.

The list of examples of the need to recruit a success team go on and on.  So where is an entrepreneur to start?  How do you reach out to like-minded individuals in your field, so that you can create a successful team initiative?

There are two highly targeted methods we will use to recruit your team.  First of all, you’re going to utilize your social networking memberships, and perform a search for other members, based on the search term you wish to find.  In our previous loan officer example, he/she could search for the term, “Florida property appraiser,” when attempting to connect with a licensed Florida property appraiser.  The loan officer can then send a message to each of the results of his search, and invite them to create a success team.

In our second recommended method of recruiting a team, we utilize the telephone.  You can access your local yellow pages, and find the contact information for the individuals you are looking for, and make a phone call.

If you are in an MLM organization, and are looking for ways to recruit a downline, you can incorporate both of these methods into your recruiting as well.  It is my firm belief, the people who are successful in any business, are very comfortable on the phone.  Sure, you can do a lot of things via email and the social networking sites – but you will never be able to replicate “good, old-fashioned human interaction.”  Keep that in mind as you move forward in your business.

Remember, having a solid success team is the difference between struggling to make ends meet, and catapulting yourself to untold wealth.

Until next time – Here’s to your Success!

Day 8 – Incorporating Outsourcing into your Profit Making Strategy

Have you read, “The Four Day Work Week,” by Timothy Ferris?  If not, it’s a great read about how you can leverage outsourcing and automation in your home-based business to achieve double, even triple your profits and success.

How can a home based business owner us outsourcing to increase their profits?  By using a Virtual Assistant to perform basic administrative skills; allowing you to focus on those areas of your business that are income-producing.

For example, if you’re in the advertising business, and sell ad space for a major magazine, you will encounter the necessity of cold calling, email follow-up, lead management, returning calls, etc.

Why not work smarter, by hiring a VA to perform appointment setting, do email follow-up, track your leads, and any other administrative task you can assign, so that you can place all of your energy on holding scheduled meetings with qualified buyers/clients.

When you run your home based business like a well oiled machine, you reap the financial rewards much earlier than if you try to wear all hats.

Are you concerned that hiring a VA might be too expensive – when you’re just getting started?  The question I pose to you is, can you really afford NOT to have help, right out of the gate, when you need it the most?

After reading more about hiring a Virtual Assistant, I found that you’re not having to purchase expensive equipment, creating a work space for your independent contractor, or having to outlay tons of money each week, without any results.  When you go virtual, you pay for production!  You may pay X amount of money per hour, but if your VA only performs 10 minutes worth of work in one hour, you only pay for 10 minutes worth of time.  Sounds like a win-win for my business!

Day 7 – Get More Targeted Customers

Today, we’re going to talk about ways to get visitors to your site:  the Guerilla Warfare Method!

Guerilla warefare strategies to get visitors:

  1. Post daily ads about your product or service at Craigslist.org, or any other f*ree classified advertising site.
  2. Blog about your business daily.  You can sign up for your own free blog, with services like WordPress.com, or Blogger.com.
  3. Respond to other people’s blog entries or forum entries, but be sure your signature line includes a link back to your business website, with a short blurb about your company.  For example, my signature in the forums is always:  Chris Archer, www.ChrisArcherInc.com – “The Home-Based Business Connection.”
  4. Write informational articles about your business’s product or service.  Have a resource box at the end of the article with additional information about yourself and your business.  Great places to post your articles is at EzineArticles.com or AssociatedContent.com.
  5. Use the Social Networking website to gain more exposure, and create viral visitation to your website.  Some examples of social networking sites are Facebook, MySpace, Ryze, Konnects, and Linked In.
  6. You can use linking strategies to improve your rankings in the search engines.  For example, you can place other website’s link on your site, and they put your link on theirs.  (Reciprocal linking)
  7. Create weekly press releases about your site, and something new that is going on.

The list goes on and on.  Remember, get creative, and have fun with it.

Until next time – Here’s to your Success!

Day 6 – Closing Site Visitors and Prospective Customers

The key to making a sale over the internet is to develop trust with your visitors and prospective customers.  How do we quickly and efficiently accomplish this task?

This is the focus of today’s lesson.  We’ll break down your visitors into three lead categories, and discuss how you can reach all three groups.  We’ll also cover effective strategies you can incorporate into your site that will automate follow up.

You will have three types of visitors coming to your website; hot leads, who will buy; warm leads, who are interested, but may not be able to buy today, and cold leads/non-buyers.  A hot lead comes to your site, and is ready to buy your product or service.  Your warm lead customer, when handled correctly, can create the biggest impact on your profits.  Here’s how to create that impact:  By having a series of emails sent to your visitors on a weekly basis by your autoresponder, that provides additional information about your offer, you will catch them when they have the ability to purchase.  Each communication you send will refer them back to your site to make the sale.  Every message that goes out should have a link back to your site, as well as a good reason for your visitor to return.

If you don’t have a quality autoresponder service, you can incorporate unlimited autoresponders into your hosting plan, when you visit Kiosk.

When it comes to your cold leads/non-buyers, I believe in keeping the door open for them to become buyers.  Make sure they receive all of the messages in your autoresponder, and if they did not convert to a sale, continue to touch base once per month.  If you continue this strategic move, you greatly increase your conversion potential.

So how do you get visitors to sign up to be on your list, so that you can continue communicating with them?

Strategies to get visitors to sign up for your mailing list:

  1. offer a free report with useful, information related to your site.
  2. have a weekly newsletter, with tips, tricks, and news with resources.
  3. have a sweepstakes or product give-a-way on your site.

These are just some ideas to get you started.  Be creative and you’ll get results that count!

Until next time – Here’s to your Success!

Getting the Right Job Offers – on Auto-Pilot.

You’ve submitted your resume to every major recruiter in the industry, and you’re being referred to positions that just don’t meet your minimum salary requirements. Add to this, you were hoping to find job growth, so that you could continue moving up the ladder, and position yourself for upward mobility in your new job. Again and again, you hear from the staffing specialists that you just don’t have the job stability the company is looking for, or your salary history doesn’t coincide with the salary you’re applying for. It can all be completely overwhelming to a job seeker, unless you arm yourself with the knowledge and the tools, to know what to expect on the job hunt.

This article is for those individuals who are looking to make their next career move, but may have changed jobs a little too frequently to have (what recruiters refer to) a stable work history. What is the secret to getting the right job offers, completely on auto-pilot?

First of all, let’s discuss the reasons recruiters turn away the average job seeker, and focus the majority of their attention on placing candidates that earn more than $100,000 per year. Secondly, we’ll talk about alternatives to the traditional recruiting services, that can handle the footwork associated with any job search, so you won’t have to. Finally, we’ll move on to show what you can do to ensure you have more than 5000 staffing specialists working for YOU – to find you your target job.

To a professional recruiter or talent acquisition professional, the “average job seeker” is not an area they choose to work with. Since a high percentage of recruiters work on contingency, or on straight commission to be paid only IF they place the candidate who is actually hired, it behooves them to focus on those job seekers who earn the largest salaries. After all, 25 – 30% of the candidate’s first years annual salary, at $100,000 is a lot more than the candidate who earns $25,000 per year. So, when you are in what is termed “the working class,” you will find that many recruiters will not find the time to work with you.

So what can a job seeker do to have a professional running searches for them, and assist them in finding their next career move? There are Staffing Specialists who offer their search and placement services for all income levels, and offer complimentary registration for job seekers to get started. Registered job seekers can expect to be contacted via email, when a job opens that matches their parameters. At that point, it is up to the candidate to decide whether or not to move forward in the process. This system creates a win-win for all parties involved, because the job seeker is able to put their job search process on auto-pilot, and the professional search is conducted in such a way, that it does not interrupt the job seeker’s day to day activities.

For those job hunters who need to make a change immediately, they can sign up for the “Fast Track” service, and expect to receive expedited service. When a job seeker registers for the “Fast Track” option, they will have more than 5000 staffing specialists working to find them their next career move. The job offers presented to the candidate are high quality, and the process enables the job seeker to focus on his or her other responsibilities.

Regardless of whether you are considering a change of employers, or actively looking, isn’t it time that you put your search on auto-pilot? Put the numbers and the quality of job offers in your favor.  For more information, visit http://www.SterlingProfessions.com.

Day 5 – Creating a Winning Website

When you talk about a traditional, “bricks and mortar business,” there’s an old saying:  “A business with no sign, is a sign of NO business.”  In today’s home based business world, we can equate this old saying to the quality and content contained in our business website.

Let’s begin today’s lesson with some short-cuts and money saving tips when creating your website.  We’ll then cover  the correct way to market a “company provided” website; for example, you’re an independent contractor for company XYZ, and they’ve created a business website for you.  We’ll cover what a hosting plan is, and how it can provide you with all the success tools you need for marketing your business.  Finally, we’ll cover how to plan out your website, before you begin creating.

Website money saving tips and shortcuts.

  1. Many home based business owners feel compelled to hire a webmaster out of the gate.  If you can afford a designer – go for it.  If not, the company you host with can provide you with a user friendly, turn-key templated website.  In simplest terms, it’s considered a “plug and play” site.
  2. Preplan what content, links, and pictures you want on your site.  Determine how many pages you’ll be creating.
  3. Make sure to optimize your web pages while constructing them, by having keywords, meta tags, etc.  If you need help with this process, click here.
  4. Never submit your website domain name to the search engines while under construction.  It is a waste of your time and money to submit, until your project is complete.

What if your home based business comes with a company provided website?  This is a perk many companys offer their independent home agents, but it’s really no more useful to you than a virtual business card.  If you’re new to the work at home environment, you may be excited at the proposition that you will not have to deal with creating a website.  WRONG!

Reasons you need your own domain name, and your own business site – Regardless:

  1. your company provided site is optimized to benefit “their” company.
  2. if you have a long domain, like www.xyzco.com/affiliate?=johndoe, the site visitor is likely to just visit the main site:  www.xyzco.com – and you miss out on receiving credit for the sale.
  3. you don’t have the opportunity to really personalize the information.
  4. you want to have a way to capture your site visitor’s contact information for logical follow-up.
  5. it’s much more realistic to market your domain, because you may change affiliations in the future, but your customers can continue to visit your website, and stay connected to you for future business.

Your Solution:  Create your own, content rich site, and link to the company provided site.

Let’s assume now, you own your domain, and you need to find a company to hose your site, that offers professional templates, unlimited autoresponders, web based email with unlimited accounts, search engine optimization tools, a virtual meeting room, and more.  As hosting companies go, we’ve found one company we personally use, and endorse.  Their superior technical support and excellent inclusive services far outweigh every other hosting option.  So that you can compare, here are several hosting companies:

Now that we have a general plan on our website, it’s time to actually plan it out.  Use the questionaire below to create your website plan:

  1. The main information I want to convey to my prospective customers is…..
  2. The pages I will include are…..
  3. The links I want to include are…..
  4. My customers can order directly from my webpage (y/n).
  5. The picture files I wish to have on my site are as follows…..
  6. I have a layout from a template I will use, or I will create from scratch.
  7. My template name is…..
  8. My start date on the site is…..
  9. My target end date is…..

Remember, when you’re working on your site, you can edit it as you wish.  The main thing to focus on is getting the site functional and uploaded.  Tweak and improve as necessary, but the sooner your site looks complete, the sooner you can submit it to the search engines.  To submit your site for f*ree and obtain complimentary webmaster tools, click here.

Until next time – Here’s to your Success!
